Service Design Day 2020

We would like to invite all organisations, service designers professionals, students and enthusiasts to join us in celebration of Service Design Day. Do good - give back!

Service Design Day: The Virtual "Do Good - Give Back" Campaign

As the world continues to grapple with the effects that the COVID-19 virus has unleashed worldwide upon global communities, economies and social networks, the need to rethink how we operate as a society has never been greater. As service designers, we recognise the value our practice offers in these uncertain times and for that reason, are pleased to announce that this years' Service Design Day (June 1, 2020) will carry forward the momentum we started in 2019 via our "Do Good - Give Back" campaign. With its kick-off, we call upon practitioners, students, agencies and academics across the globe to join in and lend your support to those organisations most in need of your services.

"Do Good - Give Back" and Make a Difference

The "Do Good - Give Back" Service Design Day initiative was launched last year as a catalyst for the service design community to come together to lend its services to the greater good of local communities. We invite you to join us once again in this initiative, however, under the challenges that the COVID-19 virus brings to in-person connection, we intend to kick this off as a virtual campaign.

Block your calendars on June 1 and use this day to organise your online activities that can include webinars, workshops, Slack discussions, social media campaigns and more for and around the people and places that can benefit from your services. Share your work via social media using #SDDay20 and #ServiceDesignDay and help raise the profile of our practise while giving a voice to those you have helped!

We look forward to seeing you online on June 1 and celebrating all the great work the service design community is doing to help transform our world for the better—together.

As the practice of service design continues to gain recognition and traction, a notable trend has emerged: organisations are choosing to build and utilise in-house service design teams rather than relying on external agencies. Service designers work within a unique context.
