New chapter for our Chapter

Welcome to the very first blog post of Service Design Network Finland! We are super excited to begin this blog that we hope will be full of creative ideas and personal stories.

 --

Before we get started, we just wanted to say “Hi” and introduce ourselves briefly, so that you know who are the people behind our Finnish SDN Chapter. All in all, there are about one thousand members in the Finnish Chapter from many different fields and backgrounds. Out of all the members, we have ten active members who, for example, organise our events, update our social media and develop our Chapter further.

Together, our goal is to promote service design and spread knowledge in Finland. We also want to support the professional development of our members and thereby develop the service design field further. For example, our members have unlimited access to SDN’s Touchpoint publication full of the latest trends of service design. Through our events, we are able to provide our members with local stories and learnings and thereby promote co-creation within our Chapter.

One of our most important goals however has been to be more active and consistent with our communication towards our members and other service design enthusiasts. Now, we are one step closer to this goal, since starting from this May we have hired ourselves a Chapter coordinator! We warmly welcome Lotta Salminen to take part in developing our Chapter communications and activities even further.

We will be more active and consistent with our communications and to deliver on that promise, we are starting a monthly newsletter called “SDN Finland Monthly Wrap” which is sent out to all of our members and active followers. In these letters we will provide you with interesting service design insights, the upcoming events, the possibility to take part in organising events, and to become an active member.

Some of the insights highlighted in our upcoming newsletters will be picked up from this blog. Our dream is that this blog will play as a platform for our members to tell about their thoughts, learnings and experiences from personal point of view. So, if you are interested in contributing to this blog, please let us know here.

To wrap things up, we warmly welcome you to join our Chapter events and if you are interested in taking more active role in our Chapter, please let us know here.

All the best,

The SDN Finland Chapter Team

SDN Chapters From AI to Synthetic Services

From AI to Synthetic Services

AI continues to disrupt our work as service designers, fundamentally changing the way we design, deliver and analyse services. The advances are rapid as well, presenting new opportunities while at the same time forcing us to answer some challenging questions on where and how its capabilities are deployed. This issue of Touchpoint answers an ongoing need in our community to learn from each other - as well as those outside our field - to confidently apply AI, as well as know where it should be avoided.
