Shanghai Chapter co-organized workshop with NUA at Cumulus 2023

Shanghai Chapter (CBi), in collaboration with Nanjing University of the Arts, organized a Workshop, which explored "Comfort oriented design of aircraft lavatory for passengers with reduced mobility".

On November 27, 2023, during the Global Association of Art & Design Education and Research (Cumulus 2023), the SDN Shanghai Chapter (CBi), in collaboration with Nanjing University of the Arts (NUA), successfully organized a transcultural and cross-school one-day Workshop, which explored "Comfort oriented design of aircraft lavatory for passengers with reduced mobility".

This collaboration brought together CBi, NUA and Prof. Birgit Mager, infused new perspectives from the industry, academic, and service design area, guiding participants in collaborative exploration of aircraft design.

Prof. Birgit Mager, the Co-Founder & President of the Global Service Design Network (SDN), shares service design methodology and case studies in aircraft design.

Senior aircraft designers also provided participants with insights into the relevant knowledge and cases of aircraft interior design, helping the participants understand the current user journey.

Sissi Ren, Partner of CBi China Bridge, guide the participants explore the design journey by using different tools such as persona, journey map, prototype and so on. Together, they presented a series of innovative concepts for accessible aircraft lavatory design.

Positive Feedback:

  • Participants said, "It not only enriched our understanding of service design but also provided valuable insights into industry perspectives and career development. "
  • Senior aircraft designers commented, "I'm glad to work with those young talents, and I see a lot of potential ideas that we could implementate into furture aircraft."
  • Professor Jiajia Chen from NUA remarked, "The practical results of this workshop far exceeded my expectations."
