Successfully implementing service design projects is crucial to create a real impact. This workshop will introduce you to the fundamentals of service design implementation and organizational change. We will discuss strategies to ensure that user experience concepts are not getting blocked internally and ultimately removed from the priority list. You will also start to think about implementation at the right time and have in place everything that you will need along the way. You will learn what are key prerequisites, conditions and skills needed.

Policy labs are multidisciplinary government teams using a range of innovation methods, including service design and policy design, to collaborative involve the public in policy and service development. There are more than 100 of these labs around the world. This introduction to policy design and service design in public sector innovation labs shares experiences from established and emerging UK labs in order to provide lessons for public sector organisations to use these methods. It draws on recent research on the future of policy design and policy labs in the UK.

Today, more than ever, the role of design is shaping human needs as we deliver new service models to improve human lives. As design professionals we continue to experiment with new ways to provide solutions for complex problems. During this two-part course, we will learn about the role of service design in organisations today, share insights on how to identify design challenges from an inside and outside-in perspective and, ultimately turn these insights into actions by closing gaps between people, process, policies, platforms.
