Policy labs are multidisciplinary government teams using a range of innovation methods, including service design and policy design, to collaborative involve the public in policy and service development. There are more than 100 of these labs around the world. This introduction to policy design and service design in public sector innovation labs shares experiences from established and emerging UK labs in order to provide lessons for public sector organisations to use these methods. It draws on recent research on the future of policy design and policy labs in the UK.
