We innovate within healthcare. We facilitate intimate conversations with strangers. And we’re excited by the ongoing challenge of creating fantastic user-centred experiences in medtech.

The story of Coloplast begins with a nurse who saw her sister suffer with her stoma. She had become isolated, not leaving the house as her collecting device – a big rubber ‘jar’ strapped on a leather belt – was just too embarrassing and impractical. Elise invented the first disposable, self-adhesive ostomy pouch, determined to get her sister to enjoy life again. ‘Listening and responding’ has been in Coloplast’s DNA since the very beginning, but today we’re professionalising, building upon, and broadening that aspect of our business.

We are the User Insight team, but don’t let the name fool you. Our team is composed of a mix of people with product design, service design, design strategy, and design engineering as background. Really, we are hybrid researcher-designer-strategists. Curious by nature, passionate to make a difference, and a truly international bunch. Together, we’ve lived in 11 countries and speak 7 languages, so we can do research in local languages in our key markets, interpreting the learnings with an appreciation of the local context. And it doesn’t stop there.

We work to deliver great user-centred experiences, as we wish for our future products and services to make a real difference to our users.

We want to enable people with intimate healthcare needs to live their life as normally as possible!

We are on a journey. And we're working on introducing more service design thinking and doing into the organisation, little by little.
