Dear SDN Members,
You are all invited to join our last SDN Global Café event in the 2023!
A virtual series aims to connect our beloved SDN members, provide more networking opportunities, and tackle relevant Service Design topics.
In this upcoming session, we will welcome Siobhán Manning, Service Innovation & Design Lead at the Mater Hospital, Dublin and Linda Klotzbach and Ashleen Nee, winners of this year’s SDN Service Design Award in the Student category, whose project, “Save Time, Save Lives”, was a collaboration between the National College of Art & Design in Dublin and the Hospital.
Siobhan will share insights on creating the collaboration program and the positive impact it has had on healthcare service innovation at the hospital. In recent years, service design has become a key component of their approach to innovation - informing the design of services, systems and touchpoints to enable even better care for the 400,000+ patients that come through the Mater's door every year.
Ashleen, Linda (and Yuyu Sun) collaborated with the transformation team at the Mater on a 5-week design sprint that ultimately focused on improving the communication flows of emergency staff to effectively use life-saving time in major trauma. The project demonstrates the importance of deep contextual access and the value of iteration and prototyping. What was accomplished in 5 weeks is truly inspirational.
