ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS
Abby Golfo, Senior Service Designer, MBTA
Abby is a Senior Service Designer at the MBTA's Technology Innovation Department and teaches UX Design to high school and college students through America on Tech. With a background spanning museums, finance, and civic tech, she holds a master’s in Digital Media from Georgia Tech and dual bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Communication from SUNY Geneseo. Outside of work, she organizes Queer Pickleball Boston, writes screenplays, and loves watching women’s sports.
Augusta Meill, Executive Director, Agncy
Augusta is a designer and strategist seeking to use design to make systems work better for people. Her practice brings together established design methods and problem-solving approaches with the philosophies and mindsets of community organizing.
Augusta founded Agncy Design to apply and adapt human-centered design to the social sector. Agncy has created a community-centered approach to design through its work with agencies and municipalities, non-profits, and philanthropies across spaces including education, healthcare, violence prevention and response, housing, transportation, and the arts.
Candace Brooks, Director of Research + Learning Strategies, Agncy
Candace is a researcher and educator who draws from the perspectives of psychology and design. Her specialty in the firm is the rigor of her approach to research and analysis.
Candace's work at Agncy has included: understanding what motivates and can support teachers of color, exploring the experiences of Black patients, identifying opportunities to improve transportation for older adults, and making tangible what math teaching and learning looks like in grades 3-8.
Elizabeth Cooper, Senior Mediator, Consensus Building Institute
Elizabeth Cooper is a Senior Mediator at the Consensus Building Institute, where she has worked since 2016. Her work focuses on helping organizations and stakeholders collaborate more effectively and build consensus around complex public issues. She works on a wide range of topics, including sustainable transportation planning, endangered marine animal conservation, climate resilience planning, renewable energy siting conflicts, housing policy, and more. She combines deep engagement in complex technical topics with thoughtful process design and facilitation that integrates the experience, insights, and expertise of stakeholders and people affected by decisions into policy at the local, state, and federal level.
