The Markets, Innovation, and Design (MiDE) Department in the Freeman College of Management at Bucknell University invites applications for a full-time, non- tenure-track faculty position to begin August 2019. The initial appointment is for academic year 2019/20 with the possibility of reappointment in subsequent years contingent on satisfactory performance. The successful candidate will be qualified to teach design-related courses, including the introductory course in MiDE (MIDE 300) that blends design thinking with concepts from marketing and innovation and an upper-level undergraduate course in design realization-- a studio based course in which students gain hands-on experience transforming their ideas into models and prototypes (MIDE 302). The teaching load is six courses per academic year. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of or potential to engage in ongoing professional activities, such as consulting or participation on boards related to their professional background. This position is open to candidates with an array of design-related backgrounds, including product development, user experience design, product/services design, etc. The successful candidate should possess a graduate degree in a relevant field. MiDE is one of four majors in Bucknell's AACSB accredited Freeman College of Management. Overall, the MiDE program incorporates strategic marketing, the design mindset and creative process, deep understanding of consumer-product/service relationships, prototyping based on consumer insights, and managing the marketing process.

The Community

Located in central Pennsylvania, Lewisburg features a variety of restaurants, beautiful Victorian homes, the restored art deco Campus Theatre (owned by the University), charming shops and boutiques, and the Barnes and Noble at Bucknell University Bookstore. About 33,000 residents live in the region.

The city of Williamsport is about a 30-minute drive from campus, and Penn State University's main campus is about an hour away, as is Harrisburg, Pennsylvania's state capital. Bucknell is about three hours from New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
