SCAD Savannah seeks an Associate Chair with a solid track record of translating deep customer insights into innovative services, product-service systems, interactions and user experiences for well-known brands. In this role for the university’s highly innovative service design program, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational support and strategic direction of the program. You will also assist in the recruitment and placement of students in internships and careers, and have the opportunity to teach in cross-disciplinary classroom environments.
SCAD is the first university in the United States to offer B.F.A. and M.F.A. degree programs in service design. With demand for highly strategic service designers on the rise, these programs have been developed to prepare talented students for professional, creative careers across many sectors of the economy.
The Associate Chair works closely with the dean of the School of Design to ensure that all services related to the academic offerings of the service design department are planned and delivered with the highest quality.
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic educator who possesses a thorough understanding and passion for service design methodology, principles and theories. With creative flair and demonstrated leadership capabilities, they will motivate students and faculty to think both creatively and critically. The ability to efficiently manage administrative duties as well as strong communication, project management, graphic and idea visualization skills is required.

Requirements:
• Terminal degree in service design, interaction design, industrial design, design management or related discipline
• Strong background in contextual research, co-creation, experience prototyping and interaction design
• Demonstrated passion for inspiring and teaching
• College-level administration and teaching experience is preferred
