The latest SDN Academy Service Design Basics Workshop was intense, inspirational and packed with energy! Conducted from 6-7 April 2019, the workshop introduced participants to the world of service design, covered the fundamentals of the service design process, and provided them with the essential methods and tools to support their work in the practice.

Interested in learning about Service Design? Join the next Service Design Basics Workshop in Cologne from  27-28 May 2019! This workshop is certified by SDN and part of the SDN Academy. Participants receive an SDN branded certificate after completion which is also valid as part of the SDN Accreditation process.

For the latest workshop this April - led by workshop trainer Anna-Sophie Oertzen and co-trainer Cristine Lanzoni - 19 motivated participants from varying fields/backgrounds and cities throughout Germany, Luxemburg and Ukraine came to Cologne, Germany to learn how to apply service design methods and tools to elicit users’ needs and design innovative and user-centric services.

Through a structured, hands-on workshop, participants were able to understand the underlying principles of service design and experience the exploratory, ideation, prototyping, and testing phases of the service design process and apply service design methods and tools in practice, such as field research, ecosystem map, personas, user journeys and low-fidelity service prototyping.

On 8 January 2024, after more than six years of meticulous planning, development and testing, Astrobotic Technology launched their Peregrine lunar lander into space, with the aim of being the first American spacecraft to land on the moon since 1972. Seven hours after launch, a propellant leak was discovered, and the difficult decision was made to abandon the mission and allow Peregrine to burn up upon re-entry to Earth’s atmosphere. One week ago, a follow-up mission from Intuitive Machines did succeed in landing Odysseus on the moon’s surface. But in what was later attributed to both cutting corners and forgetting to unlock a laser’s physical safety switch, Odysseus touched down on its side, hampering its solar panels and communications, and causing the mission to be aborted.
