SIMPLIFICATION OF WORKPLACE

As your organisation gear’s up to be future ready, it’s vital to prevent complexity from taking root and hindering growth. Left unaddressed, this can lead to a work environment with less than desirable leadership behaviours, where there’s no room for big ideas, re-enforces status quo that limits innovation potential, overwhelmed and disengaged employees, poor communication, lowers quality and reduces customer experience. The antidote to escape the complexity trap, while it may seem counter-intuitive, is simplification. Join SDN Acc. Master Dr Vidya Priya Rao in this New SDN Academy Course.

Date/Time: November 10-12, 2021 / 20:30 - 23:30 CET (GMT+5:30)
Language: English
Course level: Intermediate

INTRODUCTION TO SYSTEMIC DESIGN 2.0

The recent interest in Systemic Design has resulted in the emergence of toolkits and templates that aim at integrating systems thinking with service design methods. However, we believe there is an imperative for a more profound and insightful integration. Thereby, in Systemic Design 2.0, we move beyond the tools and templates level, to tap into the power of timeless ideas and practical techniques from the systems paradigm. This transition enables the designers to add depth and dimension to their observations, create their own tools for sense-making, re-iterate and examine design problems in novel ways, and learn better in and about complexity.

Date/Time: November 30, 2021 / 18:00 - 19:30 CET (GMT+1)

Touchpoint 15-3 Call for Papers is now open: “Designing from Within”

As the practice of service design continues to gain recognition and traction, a notable trend has emerged: organisations are choosing to build and utilise in-house service design teams rather than relying on external agencies. This shift brings with it a host of considerations, both positive and negative, that merit in-depth exploration and critical reflection.

Service designers work within a unique context. Because our work influences service innovation, improvement and delivery across lengthy and often complex customer lifecycles, we must work closely with stakeholders from across our organisations, and even beyond. While we aim for deep expertise in our own practice, we must also familiarise ourselves with the ways many others work
