Publications Manager at Service Design Network

Want to work for the largest network of service design professionals in the world? The Service Design Network is looking for an independent and proactive Publications Manager to coordinate the production of Touchpoint – The Journal of Service Design, develop content- and marketing strategies for SDN publications, and supervise as well as support media activities.

Your responsibilities:

  • Carry out the production of our service design journal Touchpoint, including supporting the Editor-in-Chief, handling contributions and inquiries by authors, managing approval and review process with the Editorial Board, and collaborating with our external partners such as editorial designers and printing company. You will also improve the efficiency of all connected tasks and processes.
  • Develop comprehensive content- and marketing strategies for Touchpoint and other SDN publications based upon our previous work, critically reviewing our content and channels, and suggesting new opportunities to raise performance and gain more attention.
  • Supervise as well as support our online media activities by monitoring relevant media channels, identifying possible spheres of activity and helping to create new pieces for our website, newsletter and social media.
  • Responsible for contact and advertising sales in our publications, as well as handling sponsorship and partnership opportunities to raise revenue and improve the outreach of our publications. You will also proactively look for new opportunities to publish our content, especially in business-related media channels.
  • You understand your work as part of our overall offering, maintaining stakeholder value, respecting our vision, mission and objectives.

Your skills:

  • You are experienced in managing publication projects, maintaining an overview of the activities, keeping budgets and deadlines, as well as communicating with stakeholders in a polite yet assertive way.
  • You have very good communication skills and at least an ‘effective operational proficiency’ level of English (level C1). You are also familiar with British English spelling (the editorial language of our publications).
  • You have great organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • You have creative skills to generate new ideas and a knack for problem solving.
  • You feel comfortable using software and web platforms such as: Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint, GoogleDrive/Sheets, Content Management Systems, Slack and Trello.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator) is a plus.
  • Background in Communications, Design, Marketing or related field is preferred.

  • The job position we are currently offering is a part-time position (30hours) with a 1-year contract, with potential for extension if the collaboration is working well.
  • We are looking for someone available to start working in June 2019.
  • Compensation is based upon TVL labor agreement, with grading depending on your educational and professional background.
