Job Description

About the role

As our clients transform into more service-oriented organisations, you will help them to define their services and develop the user-centred design capabilities and the ways of working they need.

You will help dxw design accessible public services that work well for all kinds of users, across all the channels and support options they need, including assistive technologies.

The services you’ll work on can be complex case management systems or public-facing services, you may work in different stages developing new services or help to transform existing ones. The services you will work on will continue to be supported and improved by the organisations they’re built for and their design will need to support that.

As part of an agile multidisciplinary team, you will lead in the production of service design outputs. You will work closely with other service designers, user researchers, interaction designers, content designers, developers and others designing to transform and improve services. You’ll lead and facilitate meetings and co-design sessions. You’ll devise and share narratives of existing user experiences, as well as your visions of future ones.

You should be able to build good relationships with others in the team, collaborating in all areas from idea generation to adoption of the service or product.

You’ll also identify and find ways to highlight risks, issues and areas of uncertainty and constructively challenge assumptions about the product, service or organisation.

By combining evidence and experience to create ideas and make good design decisions, you’ll choose the most appropriate method for the team, project and desired outcome.

You’ll be supported and supervised by colleagues to design simple, effective and accessible services. You will broaden and develop your skills so that in future you may play a dual role as a researcher, business analyst, interaction or content designer on smaller projects.

You will support colleagues in dxw building the service design community, internally and externally e.g facilitating Service Design mornings, writing blog post or creating and sharing new methods.
