Thank you for a great Service Design Day!

On June 1st the Service Design community came together to celebrate the third official Service Design Day. This day is all about celebrating the power and spirit of service design, as well as connecting our amazing international community. Thank you to everyone who participated, now more people than ever know about the amazing power of service design!

The third Service Design Day was a great success! This year, we had 17 international events happening all around the world in 11 countries across 4 continents! We showed the world a full 24 hours of service design love, and our community came together online and offline, in buttoned-down shirts and in flipflops. It was so encouraging to see the enthusiasm for service design growing more than ever, and that momentum kept on going even till now. Because of your participation, more people than ever know about the amazing power of service design!



Together, we created more noise than ever, with our social media posts reach all over the world. Our #ServiceDesignDay feed was flooded with inspiring posts celebrating the unique and growing discipline that is service design. We couldn’t get enough of your cakes, post-its, presentations, finger hearts, and other innovative activities!

For the first time this year, we had a theme for Service Design DayChapters all around the world held events surrounding the theme borderless, and we had a conversation about how service design breaks down border on our Slack channel. Borderless was interpreted in many different ways by our members, from geographical borders to breaking silos, our community had many lively discussion surrounding the topic. But that's not all. Our awesome Chapters held events around the world to raise awareness, educate and celebrate service design. Overall, there were more than 500 people that attended a Chapter event worldwide. A big thank you to our chapter representatives for dedicating their time to help grow and connect the service design communities, we couldn't have done it without you. Here are snapshots of some of the fun that was had - get in touch with a chapter near you so you don't miss out on any future events!



There were also many self-initiated events around the world! For example, HUED in Saudi Arabia held their own celebration with 2 Service Design Day cakes and a HUED talk with the title "Concepts in Service Design". This is an initiative that aims to spread knowledge of Innovation and design as well as building a platform for exchange. 

Service Design Day couldn't have happened without your support. Thank you to all the service design enthusiasts around who shouted loud and proud on Service Design Day. Your creativity, passion and cake baking skills continue to inspire us. Not only were we delightfully overwhelmed by your social media posts, we also received confetti interview submissions from China and Russia, where service designers shared their experience and shed light to the service design scene in their countries.


Finally, thank you to everyone who participated in Service Design Day and made it so special. It was great celebrating another year of service design with you, and we look forward to the many years to come.
