Learn how Service Design can help to shape the healthcare system of the future

Event Description

The healthcare system faces many challenges as it looks towards its own future. Among them is an aging global population, growing concerns about patient privacy, and ever-increasing costs of care, not to mention a rise in occurrence of global pandemics and the heightened impact of social determinants of health on patient outcomes.

What role can service design play in addressing these issues? How might service designers evolve a $12 trillion global industry? What challenges might service designers face in doing so? Our very own David Russo will moderate a panel of three speakers for this event – Kerilyn "KP" Tacconi (she/her), Yasmin McCall (she/her), and Carol Massá (she/her).

KP Tacconi (she/her) manages the FuturePractice innovation lab at NYU Langone, which takes a human centered design approach to solving problems and optimizing the care experience for patients and staff. Her background is in innovation strategy, product management and design research. She previously worked for Deloitte London doing innovation consulting and in the healthcare industry in Boston leading digital innovation initiatives. She has a BA in Communication and Journalism from Wake Forest University and an MA in Innovation Management from Central St Martins School of Art & Design in London. She is currently working on an MA in Social Justice from Union Theological Seminary with a focus on queer theology and spiritual care.

Yasmin McCall (she/her) is a Service Design Leader working at Elaborate – a startup focused on automating patient lab results. She has a background in design delivery and research and has focused on developing connected ecosystems within various industries, including built environment, government, banking, telecommunications. Her current focus is on supporting Elaborate's integration with large health enterprises and defining the company's next stage of scale with both practitioners and patients at the center of their solution.

Carol Massá (she/her) is a multi-disciplinary designer with ten years of experience across many fields of design including visual design, branding and strategic design. Her expertise ranges from both consulting Fortune 500 companies and in-house experience in telecommunications, insurance, retail and healthcare.
