A Conversation for the UK Service Design Community

Service Design YAP is podcast from the SDN's UK Chapter. It provides a platform for the Service Design community to share career stories and service design war stories that engage and entertain.

Our Story


Service Design YAP was developed to foster community and conversation amongst UK Service Designers in the most accessible way.


Previous SDN UK events had been held in major cities, and we knew that we were just not engaging a large number designers across the country. The rise of hybrid working during Lockdown amplified this issue and the UK Chapter community felt that a podcast could be a great way to reach more designers.


We're also trying to use the podcast to introduce the UK's Next Generation of designers. Episodes in this series feature questions from students from the RCA, UAL, and GSA.


Thanks to all of our Next Gen designers for recording really well considered questions (often at very short notice).

As designers, we love prototyping. We're thinking of the first series of Service Design YAP as our prototype and have asked listeners to provide their feedback, via a survey in the show notes.


  • Are we covering the right topics?
  • Are we interviewing the right people?
  • Do we really need another podcast?

Once we understand whether the podcast is engaging and uniting the UK Service Design community, we'll commit to a second series.
