I'm a design lead who grew up in Finland. Besides Europe, I've worked in the Middle East, the US, and Canada. I lead the interaction and service design practice at RBC Royal Bank of Canada in Toronto.

To me, service design means...

Gathering a holistic understanding of the landscape, needs and journey not limited to a single touchpoint, device, channel, or product. Service design's job is to coordinate people, infrastructure, communication, platforms and materials into a better sum of the pieces to improve the quality of the interaction between the service provider and its customers.
