STBY (Standby) does social research for innovation and design. Typically, STBY is involved from the early stages of service design processes, when a multi-disciplinary team of business strategists and designers needs to discover what matters to the people they aim to develop a service for.

We do qualitative research with people instead of about them, often using ethnographic methods. The research is always tightly integrated in the innovation and design process. Our clients are both multinational companies and local organsations. STBY is based in London and Amsterdam and run by dr Geke van Dijk and dr Bas Raijmakers.
