Flywheel
Flywheel is a service design consultancy with a difference: we use the redesign of space and technology as a catalyst to re-imagine the service and reinvent the organisation. We base our work around two systems: the services system, which is customer centred, and the organisational system, which is workforce centred.
We focus on the service industry and educational sector, and use a blend of service design, organisational design (both management consultancy and educational consultancy), systems and design thinking, change management, spatial / technological briefing and interior design to create an integrated approach to solving problems, designed to deliver better results.
We aim to work on projects that, in particular, have some interaction with the physical spaces that customers or learners occupy. In the past years, we have built up a strong reputation in revolutionising the way school services impact the school building, and founder Tom Weaver has led two of the largest school building innovation projects in history, globally: Project Faraday, to rethink the way science spaces can be created in schools, and Space for Personalised Learning, to rethink the entire way schools are designed, educational service first.
In addition, Flywheel has a ventures arm that is looking at revolutionary new models for service businesses it can put into action. It is currently in talks with a variety of funders for several of its concepts.
Our ambition for joining the Service Design Network is to begin coordinating and collaborating with other companies in the industry. Our specialisms in thinking about the link between services, the organisation, and particularly the physical spaces they occupy may bring fresh thinking to your own projects. Similarly, we are seeking to bring additional expertise into our own project bids, which tend to involve a small handful of innovative and varied companies (as partners) or individuals (as associates).
