Domus Academy
Domus Academy Research Centre
Domus Academy was set-up in Milan in 1982 as an open-project as a reference center for Italian Design and Fashion. Over the years, DA gradually became a school in the ordinary sense of the term.
Today it is both a post-graduate training center and a research laboratory that attentively studies industrial Design processes, the scenarios of aesthetics and consumption, space and time relations, public and private services and the radical changes originating from the widespread use of the Web.
DARC (Domus Academy Research Center) is part of the activities of DA in charge of the development of research and consulting projects.
DARC is a research and professional consulting center that works on design innovation. Since 1985 it has been developing design researches and projects for companies, public and private associations and international research institutes.
DARC was born during the 80’s as the natural interface of DA with the industrial world: a structure offering applied researches and design projects, exploring and opening new design fields such as the design of materials, the environmental sustainability of products, the interactive media design, the experience design, the brand culture, the relationship between design and business.
DARC explores and grows competences in new territories of design through activities of basic and applied research (EU and national co-founded research projects) and provides consultancy to the management of companies, to internal Design groups and in collaboration with R&D of companies.
