Call for Contribution

We would like to invite you to submit abstracts for contributions to the third Service Design Network
Conference, 13/14th October 2010, which aims at going on beyond the Service Design basics and strengthening the relation between clients and Service Designers.

conference structure
13th October: Clientsday
The Clientsday focuses especially on clients, such as business partners, newcomers and policy makers. This event shall promote the discipline of Service Design and show it's potentials, impacts and benefits. Furthermore the goal is to facilitate new collaborations and use the chance to have clients telling clients about their experiences with service designers.

14th October: Professionalsday
The Professionalsday shall be composed for Service Designers, from companies and agencies, as well as for academics and of course students. Exchange of knowledge, experience and inspiration, but focused on the future, future projects and fields of activities.


abstract submission
We are looking for presentations, workshops, client talks, design challenges, experimental formats and innovative interventions on academic research, commercial projects, social case studies and other exploratory work that touches on the processes and implementation of Service Design both in depth and in detail. We are particularly interested in submissions that focus on the following:

• how to support social innovation
• contribution of Service Design to megatrends
• design challenges
• advanced Service Design methods
• full service systems, integration of stakeholders
• B2B focus
• sales and/or management aspects within Service Design consultancies
• return on investment, evaluation of Service Design projects
• the aspect of interdisciplinary within both the design team and the client team
• overcoming barriers to the implementation of Service Design
• Service Design in global cultural context
• Service Design and behavioural change

As well as the topics mentioned above, abstracts are welcome that focus on the advanced application
of Service Design and various controversial aspects relating to the academic and/or practical activity
within this design discipline. All kind of submissions will be judged on appropriateness, originality and expertise.

Submission should be in the form of abstracts no longer then 300 words that describe the content of
your presentation and what conference participants will see and learn from your presentation.
Look out for a short and succinct title of your contribution. The description should be suitable to be incorporated in the program booklet.


form of presentation
As this year’s conference focuses on interactivity all sort of contribution can be accepted. Next to the more classical formats like paper presentation, slide shows or workshop we are happy to integrate experimental formats and innovative interventions.


presentation submission
As soon as your presentation is accepted, you will be ask to submit the full presentation paper.

 

contribution to Touchpoint

This year's third issue of Touchpoint, the Service Design journal, will focus on the Service Design Conference 2010. We would appreciate contributions for the conference being provided as articles for Touchpoint after the conference.

Copyright remains with the author. Authors grant unrestricted permission for the Service Design
Network to publish the accepted submissions on the SDN website and in other media (flyer, conference agenda, Touchpoint etc.) without additional consideration or remuneration.

April 15th: deadline for abstract submission
April 30th: acceptance notification
October 13/14th: SDN conference presentation
