The first post-graduate school of design in Italy presents, in a panel at Triennale di Milano, its new Masters programme starting in January 2011, and the related competition Unexpected Courtesy, closing on September 6th.
Dan Lockton, David Harisson and Neville Stanton wrote a fantastic article in Touchpoint 4 regarding design for behavioural change, which they are approaching with their new Service Design toolkit DwIv.1.0: 101 Patterns for Influencing Behaviour through Design. The toolkit consists of 101 simple cards illustrating a particular ‘gambit’ for influencing people’s interactions with products, services, environments and each other, via the design of systems.

The annual German IA Conference will this year be held in Cologne on May 14/15. The theme of this year's conference is "Service. Design. Thinking." It looks at how to create benefits that really make a difference to the user, that are perceived as being innovative and thus strengthen the product’s or service provider’s brand in the long.
In an effort to continue to develop Service Science as a new academic discipline, IBM has agreed to sponsor eight student travel scholarships of US$400.00 each to attend the Art & Science of Service Conference, which will be held at IE Business School in Madrid, Spain on June 2-4, 2010. There will be a Doctoral Student Consortium held on June 2, which is free for doctoral students. In addition, students will be charged a reduced registration fee to attend the conference itself on June 3 and 4.

The Nordic Conference on Service Design and Service Innovation, ServDes, is the premier research conference within service design and service innovation. This year’s venue is Linköping, Sweden. Within three days the focus will be set on the growing need for research on service design.
